10+ years of fitness experience in 60 seconds
You feel uncomfortable in your skin and don’t like what you see in the mirror so you decided to do something about that. The gym is one of the oldest proving grounds to yourself that you can achieve whatever you set your mind to. Here’s 10+ years of fitness experience in 60 seconds.
1) Everything you need to learn in fitness is on YouTube. From “how to go to the gym for the first time without feeling scared” to “how to diet” and “how to build muscle”
2) There are many ways to build muscle and lose fat. if your diet sucks, you’re playing to tie. not to win. monitor your calories, eat whole foods, and high protein.
3) After 30, if you don’t use it, you lose it. when you’re inconsitent in the gym, your fitness will reverse at a very fast rate.
4) Consistency beats intensity everyday. It’s more about showing up regularly as your schedule allows. It’s okay to skip a day of working out, but it’s not okay to skip a week or more.
5) If you find a good trainer, it’s one of the best investments you can make into yourself, think of it like getting lessons on how to exercise and eat right for you.
6) it doesn’t matter what supplements you take, sleep is the best recovery tool and you need ideally 7-8 hours. if you’re wondering why you cant sleep, remember you need to choose to sleep by intentionally turning off all distractions and closing your eyes.
7) have a mission and a reason for achieving your goal. your mission will point you in the right direction. and your reason will help you stay committed.
8) attitude is a decision. it’s choosing the right response to any situation. its the difference between should i go the gym? vs i am going to the gym.
9) the best routine for you is something you can stick to in the long term. for most, it’s lifting weights 2-3x/week and doing some sort of cardio or sport 2-3x/week.
10)the hardest thing about fitness is getting started. getting into a routine. getting into a gym. getting the right help. But once you go through these initial obstacles, you’ll never look back. the greatest regret in someones fitness journey is wishing they got started sooner.
